Rising from the ashes,

Slumdog to Millionaire,

That is the journey that India is going through.

She was named the "Golden Bird"

For she truly had an abundance of nature's bounties.

Rich growing forests, extremely knowledgeable people,

Wealth that flows like the river Nile.

Today marks the day this phoenix rose up from the ashes,

Going against all those who tried to clip her wings,

exceeding every expectation held at her.

This phoenix has been gifted the beautiful name of India,

I am sure that when you take a trip down memory lane,

You will gape in awe at how far we have come.

From her people being harassed and abused,

to her people kicking the colonizers out,

From having to wait long hours in queues to send a message to a loved one,

To sending a message in a matter of seconds now.

This is a worthy example of true perseverance,

How our people fought tooth and nail,

To grant our "Golden Phoenix" the title of a Republican Nation!
